UPDATE: Peggy and I spent time wiring things up on Monday and Tuesday and had some light testing on Tuesday (we have most of the elements working now). We will be running the show on Wednesday. There may be a couple of things that may need some fine tuning but hopefully nothing significant or extremely noticeable.

Unfortunately, the start of the light show was delayed. I had an unfortunate accident while working on the hillside that took me out of commission for a few days (back issues). I am hopeful that we will be live next week – Maybe on the 28th or the 29th. Again my apologies to all.

Depoe Bay lights started the Christmas light show in 2021. I actually started in 2019 but with the pandemic 2021 was really the first year that I was able to put the lights onto the hillside of Troller’s Lodge. The show is a personal hobby. The motel gives us the space to use since our house has a very tiny lot. It is an interesting space in that it is on the hillside which has a pretty steep slope. It also affords an opportunity to get a unique perspective of the lights.

I get a lot of questions about the show and one of the purposes of this website is to help curb your curiosity. You can check out the About section and also the FAQs and if you don’t find the answer you are looking for when you are there… send me a quick email via the Contact Us form. I will also attempt to post periodic journal entries of things I am working on and the like.

If you like the show we encourage you to tell all your friends, post pictures to your social media, get the word out. If you don’t like the show I hope you tell me so that I can work on whatever might be the challenge.

Show Location:
The Depoe Bay Light Show is located on the south side of Depoe Bay. Trollers Lodge lets me use a hillside on the back of their property on Coast Ave. If you turn west on Hawkins Street and then south on Coast Ave you won’t be able to miss it. Parking is limited on Coast Ave. Please park on the west side of the street and be prepared to move if our neighbors need to be able to get in or out of their drives. You can also park up and down the street on the west side and walk to the show. We will have the music available on the hillside (with the press of a button). You can tell your GPS you want to go to 354 SW Coast Ave. It will get you here. If nothing else, just watch for the lights.

Show DATES for 2023:
This year’s show is anticipated to start on Saturday November 25th. You might see some lights doing some blinking and flashing before that as we test to make sure that everything will be ready. There are many pieces and parts that all need to come together so we will be working to get those done for opening night.

Show HOURS:
Sunday through Thursday – 4:30pm until 9:30pm
Friday and Saturday – 4:30pm until 10:30pm. (Come enjoy a cup of Left Coast Coffee or a Cocoa and a candy cane – weather permitting)

Show CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION:
This year we are partnering with Depoe Bay – Neighbors For Kids. Since 1999 Neighbors for Kids has been providing a safe place for students to come after school, where they can be supervised by caring adults in a fun, learning environment. If you enjoyed the show we encourage you to scan their QR code and make a donation to support their effort and the kids of Depoe Bay.

Show MUSIC:
The show music is broadcast on FM 92.1 – You can tune in on your car or many smartphones have an FM radio built into them or you can download an FM radio app. If you are walking we do have a pushbutton next to the tune to sign on the hillside that will allow you to hear the music for about 5 minutes. Just press the button to activate the hillside speaker.

Select the Day to see the Music that will be featured during the regular show for that night. Remember the show runs continuously each night with about a 5 minute pause before restarting.

General Show GUIDELINES:

  1. Please be COURTEOUS to OUR Neighbors.   They may need to get out of their driveways or garage so please be prepared to move if necessary.
  2. Please turn off your headlights… but keep your parking lights on.
  3. Make sure that you do not block Coast Avenue…like many streets in coastal towns, Coast Ave is narrow. Cars need to be able to drive through.  Also please note that parking on Coast Avenue directly in front of the show is NON-EXISTENT.   You can parallel park along the street and walk to the show (again be courteous to our neighbors) or parallel park on Highway 101 and use the Graham Street pathway to walk over to the show.  (Graham street is a dead end and does not go through to Coast Ave.  There is a walking path that does go through.  You can NOT park on Graham street.)
  4. Drive SLOWLY… there are many people walking about and children can dart out in front of you.
  5. Keep the Volume Levels reasonable

Please have fun!

Is this a drive by or a must walk to see the show. Just wondering for people with disabilities who aren’t able to walk very far. Thanks for all your work!

Awesome display, so many different lights dancing to the music and ever changing and you get to pick songs from the list. I did both in the car and standing outside and loved it ❤️❤️❤️ .
