Until we may have lights again on the hillside….

Thanks to All
We had another great season and saw more traffic this year than we ever have. The weather was not friendly to us this year and we lost a number of pieces to the windstorms. We also used a new type of pixel that proved to be unreliable for our weather conditions. We will likely need to rebuild those props.
———-
What does the future hold? At this point we are not sure. As I expressed to many of you, I am not sure that I can do another year on the steep hillside with my knees the way they are. Having said that if you know of a location in Depoe Bay that could host the show I would be interested in talking with them. It can not be on Hwy 101. Other thoughts are that I find others that can do the work on the hillside under direction. At this time we are just unsure of what / how / or if we will proceed in 2025.
———-
We will leave the donation links up for the remainder of January. Remember to scan the barcode or text “TWINKLE” to 53555 to donate to Neighbors for Kids or the Depoe Bay Food bank. We will let you know totals at that time… Current donations are at about $255. (Thanks to all of you as well!)
———-
Finally for those that asked How Can I Do This… send me an email at info@depoebaylights.com. I will reach out to you with some tips and pointers on what it takes to get started and can schedule with your some time to meet in my shop so you can see what it takes to make the Christmas magic.
———-
Once again, thank you all for your support for 2024.

Our Most Recent Journal (Blog) Entries

I get a lot of questions about the show and one of the purposes of this website is to help curb your curiosity. You can check out the About section and also the FAQs and if you don’t find the answer you are looking for when you are there… send me a quick email via the Contact Us form. I will also attempt to post periodic journal entries of things I am working on and the like.f you like the show we encourage you to tell all your friends, post pictures to your social media, get the word out. If you don’t like the show I hope you tell me so that I can work on whatever might be the challenge.

Show Location:
The Depoe Bay Light Show is located on the south side of Depoe Bay. Trollers Lodge lets me use a hillside on the back of their property on Coast Ave. If you turn west on Hawkins Street and then south on Coast Ave you won’t be able to miss it. Parking is limited on Coast Ave. Please park on the west side of the street and be prepared to move if our neighbors need to be able to get in or out of their drives. You can also park up and down the street on the west side and walk to the show. We will have the music available on the hillside (with the press of a button). You can tell your GPS you want to go to 354 SW Coast Ave. It will get you here. If nothing else, just watch for the lights.

Show HOURS:
Sunday through Thursday – 4:30pm until 9:30pm
Friday and Saturday – 4:30pm until 10:30pm. (Come enjoy a cup of Left Coast Coffee or a Cocoa and a candy cane – weather permitting between 5pm ish until it is all gone…)

Show CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION:
The charitable organizations for this year’s show will once again be Neighbors for Kids (Kid Zone) and we are also going to add the Depoe Bay Food Bank. The simple way to make a donation is to text TWINKLE to 53555. You can also click on the QR code or scan it with your phone to be taken to the donation site. 100% of the donations go to the charities. Depoe Bay Lights does not keep any of these dollars.

Show MUSIC:
The show music is broadcast on FM 92.1 – You can also download from the Android or Apple Store an app called PULSEMESH (all one word in your search). PulseMesh will stream and synchronize the music directly to your smartphone. If you are walking, we do have a pushbutton next to the tune to sign on the hillside that will allow you to hear the music for about 5 minutes. Just press the button to activate the hillside speaker.

The show runs continuously each night with a short pause before automatically restarting. We do feature different music each night of the week to offer some variety. You can click the day below to see which songs will be scheduled on each night but remember – If you can click on the website MENU item to Control the Show you can select any of our songs to be inserted into the current running show. Many of the songs on Control the Show are also not in the current song rotation of the show (think prior years, non holiday and children specific) Give it a try!

General Show GUIDELINES:

  1. Please be COURTEOUS to OUR Neighbors.   They may need to get out of their driveways or garage so please be prepared to move if necessary.
  2. Please turn off your headlights… but keep your parking lights on.
  3. Make sure that you do not block Coast Avenue…like many streets in coastal towns, Coast Ave is narrow. Cars need to be able to drive through.  Also please note that parking on Coast Avenue directly in front of the show is virtually NON-EXISTENT.   You can parallel park along the street and walk to the show (again be courteous to our neighbors) or parallel park on Highway 101 and use the Graham Street pathway to walk over to the show.  (Graham street is a dead end and does not go through to Coast Ave.  There is a walking path that does go through.  You can NOT park on Graham street.)
  4. Drive SLOWLY… there are many people walking about and children can dart out in front of you.
  5. Please keep your radio Volume at a reasonable level

Come Meet US:
On Fridays and Saturdays we will be hosting a tailgate with Left Coast Coffee or Hot Chocolate and Candy Canes from 5pm to ?pm.  We love to meet you all, answer questions and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  We would like to thank Left Coast Coffee for their donation and Trollers Lodge for their donation and use of the hillside.

Please have fun!

Awesome display, so many different lights dancing to the music and ever changing and you get to pick songs from the list. I did both in the car and standing outside and loved it ❤️❤️❤️ .

Is this a drive by or a must walk to see the show. Just wondering for people with disabilities who aren’t able to walk very far. Thanks for all your work!
